This is an early version of our Privacy Policy. Gatariya is still adding features, and what we collect will fill in as those features are built. We're publishing this now, before everything is finalized, because we'd rather be upfront that this document is a work in progress than staple one together at the last minute right before launch.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or any other company for money. Full stop. If that ever changes for any reason, it would take a public update to this page and to our Terms of Service. It will never happen quietly.
This doesn't mean nothing is ever visible to anyone: your username, public profile information, and anything you choose to publish (chapters, covers, reviews, comments) are shown to other visitors as part of how a public creative platform works. That's different from us selling your data, and we want to be clear about the distinction rather than let the word "share" do double duty for two very different things.
[To be finalized] As of this version, the Service collects:
[Update this section once analytics, cookies beyond login/preferences, email service providers, or other data sources are actually in use.]
We use the information above to operate the Service: creating and securing your account, displaying content you publish, processing credit purchases and unlocks, remembering your reading and display preferences, and communicating with you about your account when necessary.
Gatariya uses your browser's local storage to remember display preferences (things like light/dark theme, reading font and size, and focus mode) entirely on your device. We use session cookies to keep you logged in.
[Update if analytics or third-party cookies are ever added.]
Credit purchases are processed by [payment processor name, e.g. Stripe]. We do not store your full payment card details ourselves. They're handled directly by our payment processor under their own privacy and security practices.
[To be finalized] You can update your account information, and request that your account and associated personal data be deleted, by contacting us at [support email]. Content you've published that other users have already unlocked with credits may need to be retained in limited form to honor those purchases; we'll describe exactly how that works here once the process is built.
Gatariya is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. See our Terms of Service for our age requirements.
We'll update this page as the Service develops and update the date at the top when we do. Significant changes, especially anything touching how your data is collected, used, or protected, will be called out clearly, not buried in a routine update.
Questions about this policy can be sent to [support email].
