Gatariya is a platform for creating, publishing, discovering, and reading stories. We support novels, webnovels, light novels, manga, comics, illustrated works, and other forms of creative writing and sequential storytelling.
Our goal is to give creators a broad creative space while maintaining a safe and respectful environment for readers and creators.
This Content Policy explains what may and may not be published on Gatariya. It applies to written works, images, covers, illustrations, uploaded EPUB and CBZ files, descriptions, titles, comments, profiles, and other user-submitted content.
Gatariya allows a wide range of fictional and artistic expression.
Creators may generally publish works containing:
A work is not prohibited merely because its subject matter is disturbing, offensive, controversial, or uncomfortable.
Gatariya distinguishes between depicting something in a creative work and promoting, facilitating, or exploiting that thing in the real world.
Gatariya permits stories that depict or discuss serious real-world experiences, including:
These subjects may appear in fiction, memoir, autobiography, autobiographical fiction, dramatized accounts, educational works, commentary, or other forms of legitimate creative expression.
A creator does not need to prove that a personal experience described in their work actually occurred.
Authors may fictionalize, embellish, combine, rearrange, or change identifying details of real experiences as part of the creative process.
For example, a survivor publishing a fictionalized account of their experiences with trafficking is permitted, even when the events have been substantially dramatized or the names and circumstances have been changed.
However, content that facilitates, promotes, solicits, or exploits real-world abuse is not permitted.
Gatariya permits appropriate adult sexual themes and content where legally permitted and properly classified.
Creators are responsible for applying appropriate age ratings and content warnings.
Prohibited sexual content
Gatariya does not permit:
Fictional depictions of abuse or exploitation may be permitted when they serve a legitimate narrative, artistic, educational, or similar purpose, provided they do not otherwise violate this policy.
Gatariya takes the protection of minors particularly seriously.
Content involving minors may address difficult subjects, including abuse, exploitation, violence, trauma, or other serious topics, when presented as legitimate storytelling, education, commentary, memoir, or artistic expression.
However, Gatariya strictly prohibits sexual exploitation or sexualized depictions of minors.
This prohibition applies regardless of whether the content is:
Changing a character's stated age does not necessarily make content permissible when the character is otherwise clearly presented as a minor.
Fictional violence is generally permitted.
This includes:
Extremely graphic fictional content may require a Mature or Explicit classification.
Gatariya does not permit the use of the platform to distribute real-world graphic violence, gore, or atrocity material where the purpose is to shock, glorify, exploit, or celebrate real-world suffering.
Historical, journalistic, educational, documentary, or critical discussion of violence may be permitted where appropriate.
Gatariya permits fictional depictions of criminal activity.
Crime novels, mysteries, thrillers, gangster stories, detective fiction, and similar works are allowed.
However, Gatariya does not permit content that meaningfully facilitates serious real-world wrongdoing.
Examples of prohibited content may include:
The fictional depiction of a crime is different from providing a practical guide for committing that crime.
Gatariya does not permit content that:
Historical, fictional, academic, journalistic, educational, or critical discussion of terrorism and extremist movements may be permitted.
A fictional villain or organization may hold extremist beliefs. Depicting an ideology is not the same as endorsing or promoting it.
Creators and community members may not use Gatariya to target real people with:
Fictional characters and fictional conflicts are not subject to these restrictions simply because they contain arguments, insults, violence, or other unpleasant behavior.
Gatariya permits fictional, historical, educational, and critical discussion of hateful or discriminatory beliefs.
Creators may portray characters who hold offensive beliefs, including racist, sexist, homophobic, religiously intolerant, or otherwise discriminatory views.
Gatariya does not permit content that uses the platform to seriously threaten, encourage violence against, or directly target real people or protected groups for abuse or harm.
Context matters. A villain expressing hateful beliefs within a story is not automatically an endorsement of those beliefs by the author.
Stories may discuss or depict self-harm, suicide, suicidal thoughts, and related experiences.
These subjects may be important elements of fiction, memoir, autobiography, or personal expression.
However, Gatariya does not permit content that encourages or glorifies real-world self-harm or suicide, or provides instructions intended to facilitate self-harm.
Creators should use appropriate content warnings when these subjects are significant elements of a work.
Creators may only upload or publish material that they have the legal right to distribute.
This includes EPUB, CBZ, PDF, image, text, and other uploaded files.
Generally permitted sources include:
Purchasing a physical or digital copy of a work does not, by itself, give someone the right to redistribute that work on Gatariya.
For example, owning a manga volume does not automatically authorize someone to scan and upload it as a CBZ.
Gatariya will maintain a separate Copyright and DMCA Policy describing how copyright complaints and takedown requests are handled.
Users may not impersonate another real person, creator, publisher, company, or organization in a manner intended to deceive others.
Creators may write fictional characters inspired by real people, parody public figures, or create fictional versions of real-world organizations where permitted by law.
A fictional work should not be presented as an authentic work by another creator when it is not.
Gatariya permits responsible use of artificial intelligence in the creative process.
AI may be used for purposes such as:
Gatariya may also permit substantially AI-generated works, subject to applicable labeling and platform requirements.
AI-generated content may not be used to:
Gatariya may establish additional disclosure or labeling requirements as its AI-content policies develop.
Gatariya is intended for people to create and share meaningful works.
Users may not abuse the platform through:
Commercial publishing is permitted where it follows Gatariya's applicable terms and policies.
Creators are responsible for accurately classifying their works.
Gatariya may provide ratings and content-warning categories such as:
Additional warnings may include:
Content warnings are intended to help readers make informed choices. They are not intended to shame or prohibit creators from exploring difficult subjects.
Gatariya may adjust a rating or warning when a work is substantially misclassified.
When content violates this policy, Gatariya may take action appropriate to the severity and circumstances of the violation.
Possible actions include:
Not every violation will result in the same action.
We consider factors such as:
Severe violations may result in immediate account termination.
Creators may appeal moderation decisions.
An appeal should provide relevant context or explain why the creator believes the decision was incorrect.
Gatariya will review appeals in good faith and may restore content that was incorrectly removed or restricted.
Users should not create additional accounts or repeatedly repost removed content while an appeal is pending.
Gatariya is a creative platform.
We do not want to remove a story simply because it is dark, uncomfortable, controversial, violent, sad, offensive, or unusual.
Our central distinction is:
Depiction is not endorsement, and discussion is not facilitation.
A story about trafficking is not trafficking.
A story about murder is not a murder manual.
A villain expressing hateful beliefs is not automatically an endorsement of those beliefs.
A survivor writing about abuse is not exploiting abuse merely because the subject matter is difficult.
At the same time, Gatariya will act firmly when the platform itself is being used to exploit people, facilitate serious harm, distribute material without authorization, or abuse other members of the community.
Our goal is to preserve as much creative freedom as possible while maintaining a platform that creators and readers can safely call home.
Gatariya may update this Content Policy as the platform develops, laws change, and new forms of content or technology emerge.
When significant changes are made, Gatariya will provide appropriate notice and identify the date on which the updated policy takes effect.
If you are unsure whether something is permitted, creators are encouraged to contact Gatariya before publishing it rather than attempting to evade the rules.
